Pumpkin Patch aka 'pumpkins sitting on haybales'

Like I've venting before in past posts, autumn is hard to find around our parts.  We crave it.  Luckily there are a few little farms out here in the middle of town (so odd to me), that will organize fall extravaganzas each year.  This year we went to one close by after last year's disappointment, which happened to be a good hour away.  To recap: last year I really wanted Sailor to ride a pony (since she was in a horsey phase) so luckily I found a place that included "free pony rides."  I was stoked.  Come to find out, the "ponies" were big inflatable cartoon horses that the kids could sit on and bounce up and down on.  FAIL.  Not to mention it was close to 100 degrees at 10 am. MISERABLE.  This year we went after 4 which was definitely a smarter move.  We all enjoyed our time at this new location.  Chase even mentioned multiple times that "I'm glad we went, that was a lot of fun." SUCCESS.

This is a picture of Seryn playing in a box of corn kernels.  It was a hit....with Sailor.  Seryn was weirded out by it and wanted out fast, but we had to pry Sailor out. Such a fun clean alternative to a sand box.

Lacking enthusiasm here, this expression is in no way a representation of her actual mood.  For instance, as we are walking up to the entrance gate she said, "Mom, this is going to be so fun. So fun, huh?"

Seryn loved these chicks.  She expressed her excitement with high pitched squeals.  Anything little and soft she would squeeze hard out of pure excitement.....bring a kitten near and she would be in heaven!

Sailor and this train........it's so fun as a parent to see your child purely enjoying the simple things in life.  She spotted it when we first entered the gates and asked if she could.  The last few train rides one of us had to be there with her, not the same situation this time.  It was the first time in a while I realize that my baby is clearly growing up- becoming independent!

Kindergarten, stay away from my child!!

Seryn was so fun this particular evening, maybe because it was the first time in months she'd stand or sit still for longer than half a second so I could snap a shot of her.  But she was extra fun when she was sliding down a fun tunnel slide they had available.  It was dark outside by that time and when she started down the dark tunnel she sat up with a frightened look plastered on her face all the way down.  As she got closer to the bottom she would hold her mouth in a "o" shape and breathing in and out.  She was afraid EVERY time but when we would ask if she wanted to go again she'd nod her head a BIG yes.

Now, we are days away from all the Halloween festivities.  Over the past few weeks I've been slowly getting the costumes together.  We are attempting a "Nightmare before Christmas" theme: Sailor will be Sally, obviously.  Chase will be Jack Skellington or a man in a black suit attempting to look tall, slender, skeleton-like.  Seryn will be a black cat (she makes cats look good), and I a witch (go figure :) ).  Our family loves to dress up each year, so we try to make do with what we have and so far it's been pretty successful. Can't wait to take the girls to all the fun events within the next week!

Happy Halloween Everyone!

Trip to Grandma & Grandpa's House Part 2

Onward to ID...

We had so much fun with our families and were so excited to travel home on such a spontaneous trip.  Another thanks to Ket and Gary for driving over to WA to pick us up...what selfless people. :)  We really do appreciate the hectic but well-spent vacations to our families.  We miss them too much!  We were also very lucky to meet a new cousin!  Sailor & Seryn are the oldest on both sides of the family so to have another cousin is exciting.  Right now they have 2 little boys cousins- one on each side.  August sure is cute and it was fun to be there for such a big, new time in Chavis & Kara's life.  Yay for cousins!
 Sweet Baby August

Ket was finally able to take the girls to PoJo's.  The last couple trips home we had talked about going, but finally it was settled.  Sailor's birthday was the following week so it was her little b-day bash with Grandma.

I failed to get any more pictures of this trip; regardless, the trip did indeed help stabilize our home-sickness- if that's a word.  I am trying to motivate myself to get updated on this blog, now that we have entered the holiday, crazy-fun months!  I LOVE this time of year.  October to November to December is like Mudpie Mojo from Cold Stone Creamery.....translation: perfectly amazing.

Let's finish off 2012 right! :)
