Father's Day

Where would we be without the influential men in our lives??  I've been reading through a couple different parenting books lately and one common theme in them all is the importance of a father to a child.  Not just someone who lives in the house and dines with the family, but a father who shows love, concern, affection, encouragement, & respect to a growing and developing child.  Without hesitation I can say I've been incredibly blessed with these fatherly figures in my life: my own dad and my two loving grandfathers.  I feel like together- in an unknown combined effort- they catered to my physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. I didn't notice it then but I can look back now and confidently say they were lead and guided by a greater power as they interacted with me through out the years.  As I went through my ups and downs in my spirituality, self-esteem, confidence, and knowledge, one would buoy me up.  Then, when I needed help in maybe another area of my life, the other would step in and either give me a one-liner, or leave me with a question that influenced me to change for the better. I grew up with my father in my home, one grandpa who lived the next door over, and another who lived 40 minutes away-  if I wasn't at my parent's house, I was at one of my grandparents's houses. Period. And I didn't know it any other way, until now.  Now, I recognize not everyone has such men in their lives or miles keep them from having valuable interactions with these special men, so I understand my fortunate upbringing & don't take that for granted anymore.

My husband is another father who now influences my life.  His patience, love, and concern for his girls is constant.  He probably doesn't appreciate ALL the tips and advice I have for him as I read through the parenting books, but I understand the importance a loving father is to his daughter.  I truly think if every girl had a sincere love from their dad we'd have less girls seeking for their self-worth.  They'd know that they are important, cherished, and loved by a man who respects them and truly cares for their well-being.

A big "thank you" to all those men out there that are loving and protecting their families...it's admirable without a doubt.

.....and one more shout out to the father of my girls.....

Chase,
We love you so much and are grateful that you are present in our lives each day.  After work as you walk through the door, your love is immediately shown as you beckon for your hugs and kisses from each one of us.  We love you immensely! :)
